For someone studying Makeup and Hair design at university, my basic Makeup routine is pretty simple. Our tutors warned us on our first day that by a few weeks we would be bored of being extravagant with our own makeup on a daily basis as it only gets taken off straight away in class! I didn't believe them at first but they were definitely right!
I thought, seeing as this blog is mainly my personal style I might include some makeup bits here and there. Although I love them, I'm not the biggest beauty blog reader (As opposed to style blogs), because I'm so useless and boring with my products, I rarely update my own routine. I just use what works for me really.
I'm trying to push my boundaries a bit, I might try and do a post every few months with what I use and see where it takes me and what changes, so here's what I'm using at the moment:
FACE:
- Sample size Smashbox primer - I've only just started using this, but it's a bit shimmery for me, I might switch back to my mac primer
- Rimmel wake me up foundation - I LOVE the texture of this foundation, it's a great medium/full coverage foundation. I find it better than my Mac Studio Fix (which I used to use religiously) as the colour isn't completely ridiculously pink or yellow. The dewy effect it gives however, is very similar so I just set it with my powder for a matte look
- Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - I'm sure everyone's used/heard of this concealer. It really does like up to the blogging hype though! It's a little sticky and creases slightly though, but by far my favourite concealer ever.
- Collection 2000 Sheer Loose Powder - This is a nice little translucent powder that I use to set my makeup, however it doesn't give much extra coverage!
BLUSH/BRONZE/HIGHLIGHT
Mac (Utterly Game) Blush - I bought this in the cosmetics company outlet, it may be discontinued now (sorry!) but this is a lovely peachy pink blush that suits my skin tone quite nicely
Benefit Hight Beam - On to my last sample size bottle of this highlighter, I will definitely repurchase this in the full size, it glides on like a dream
Maybelline Dream Touch Blush (07) - This is my current cream blush but I'm not a huge fan of it, although I like the texture it's very shiny and could possibly be used as a highlight instead
Mac (Lush Light Bronze) bronzer from the surf baby collection - Another cosmetics company outlet purchase, I bought this bronzer recently as a nice matte shade for contouring, it's bar far the best I've ever used!
I decided to split this into two posts as its rather text heavy, sorry! I would like to post more makeup and hair on my blog in the future but I think I'll collect lots of thing over time rather than making smaller posts :)
xo
I really need to buy tge wake me up foundation, I got a sample in a magazine and really liked it x
ReplyDeleteIt's soooo good, you should definitely get the bottle of it :) I might stock up :)xx
DeleteGreat post! I'm looking for a new loose powder, might try that Collection 2000 one :) x
ReplyDeleteI've heard so many things about collection 2000 but I don't think it's sold in the US :(
ReplyDeleteI use Mac studio fix fluid religiously too! I would love a cheaper alternative but nothing gives me the same coverage...but i might have to give Rimmel wake me up a go!
